As you will see, God has created a concept that we will call "system of sevens"
He established holy days, commonly known as "Sabbaths" (Hebrew word: Shabbat)
The "seventh day" of each week is God's Sabbath
"Six days you shall work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, a holy convocation; you shall do no work on it; it is the Sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings" ~ Leviticus 23:3 (KJV)
"On the Sabbaths and New Moons the people of the land are to worship in the
presence of the Lord at the entrance to that gateway" ~ Ezekiel 46:3 (KJV)
"For six years sow your fields, and for six years prune your vineyards and gather their crops. But in the seventh year the land is to have a Sabbath of rest, a Sabbath to the Lord. Do not sow your fields or prune your vineyards" ~ Leviticus 25:3-4 (KJV)
"A jubilee shall that fiftieth year be unto you: you shall not sow, neither reap that which grows of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of your untended vine. For it is the jubilee; it shall be holy unto you: you shall eat what it yields thereof out of the field. In the year of jubilee you shall return every man unto his possession"
~ Leviticus 25:11-13 (KJV)
thousand years to God. Man's time on this earth will be for 6,000 years, with
the seventh thousand (The Millennial Reign of Jesus Christ) serving as a
"Sabbath Millenium" unto the Lord.
and will return in one also!
Here's a little tid bit for you...understanding these feast customs and the Hebrew day concept mentioned above are key to understanding the fact that there is
NO SUCH THING AS "GOOD FRIDAY".
Ponder this: Christ himself said that He would be "in the grave" for three days and three nights.
He answered, "A wicked and adulterous generation seeks a sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the earth. The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now one greater than Jonah is here" ~ Matthew 12:39-41
He had already risen on Sunday morning, the day following the
Sabbath, when the Mary's came to the tomb. How could He have died or been
buried on Friday and still fulfill His own words?
